    Health and Wellbeing Support

Recovering from a disaster can be a marathon not a sprint. It’s important to take time to look after yourself and to have people around that can listen and support you.

See the factsheet for tips on how to look after your health and wellbeing [PDF, 121KB] and where to get some extra help if you need it.

Advice when entering your damaged home

Houses, sheds and other buildings or structures that are burnt in a bushfire can leave potential health and safety hazards in the remaining rubble and ash.

    Clean-up of homes

See the Debris and Clean-up factsheet for information on the clean-up operations.

Public Works Advisory (PWA) is assisting with the clean-up of homes in partnership with insurers and Bega Valley Shire Council.

    Owners of insured properties

    • contact your insurance provider to arrange clean-up works.

    Owners of uninsured properties

    • contact PWA on 1800 959 444 for advice.
Independent air monitoring is ongoing throughout the impacted area. All results from the asbestos air monitoring program continue to be negative and indicate no health risks for airborne asbestos.
