• Encourage your clients to re-establish routines and spend time with family and friends.

  • Suggest your clients stay connected with the place they will return to. Ask how they would normally find out what's going on locally, and direct them to local newspapers, Facebook groups and community groups, like Rotary, Probus or their sports club.

  • If your clients have had to move temporarily or permanently, help them get in touch with services in their new area.

Tip: connect socially

After a fire threatened many homes, a community centre approached their local NSW Rural Fire Service brigade to jointly host a social BBQ. The community was able to connect informally, share their experiences and learn about preparing for and responding to future events.
