Working in an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC)

Aim

To provide practical guidance on the application of information collection,  collation, display and dissemination procedures in an EOC. Its scope is confined to addressing the functions performed by EOC staff. It does not  address issues of emergency response / recovery management.

Outcomes

  • Describe the function of an EOC;
  • Describe the role of staff positions in an EOC;
  • Activate their work station and contribute to activation of EOC procedures; and
  • Apply procedures relating to collecting, collating, displaying and disseminating information and closing an EOC.

Duration

9 hours, over 2 consecutive days.

Attendance

Course participants should be staff members of EOCs who are to implement information management procedures, including Liaison Officers and those performing support roles such as clerks.

Assessment

This course has an assessment component. Participation in the assessment process is a condition of attendance.
