Managing an evacuation

Aim

To enable participants to contribute to the selection and implementation of evacuation as a risk treatment strategy within an affected community. The course content deals with area evacuation, not evacuation from buildings or other facilities.

Outcomes

  • Identify the key issues in making a decision whether to evacuate;
  • Discuss the key issues in each stage of the evacuation process; and
  • Contribute to the management of an evacuation

Duration

13 hours, over 2 consecutive days.

Attendance

Participants should have a management role in planning for evacuation; or  conducting evacuation; or providing resource / functional area support to evacuation.

Assessment

This course has an assessment component. Participation in the assessment process is a condition of attendance.
